What Is Microneedling?
Microneedling, or percutaneous induction needling, is a method of inducing a controlled injury into the skin’s dermis to induce growth factors, new collagen, and elastin. This process results in less damage to the epidermis than dermal rolling, lasers, dermabrasion, or other ablative procedures. This allows for a faster and safer healing process. This procedure can safely treat all skin types to address a variety of concerns, such as acne scarring, wrinkles, melasma, and stretch marks. At City Derm NYC, we use the Collagen P.I.N. which has more microneedles than any other device at this time, and is able to reach up to 3mm to obtain the results that you are looking for.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Typically a series of 3-6 treatments are recommended, depending on your area of concern. Treatments are usually spaced in 4-6 week intervals. For deep wrinkles, acne scars, sun damage, and stretch marks, 6 or more treatments may be required to achieve the desired results.
What Will I Look Like After My Treatment?
Microneedling has very minimal downtime. Immediately after your treatment, your skin will look moderately red akin to a light sunburn. You will go home with a skincare regimen based on your individual skin type that will also help with any redness you may experience.
How Long Will It Take To See Results From My Microneedling Treatment?
A majority of patients see results after just one treatment. Individual results vary depending on individual skin health. Most commonly, patients report seeing positive changes as soon as 1-2 weeks after the first treatment. However, change is normally noted within a few days.
